This year marks 30 years since Marysabel Caballero and Moises Herrera began their journey together in coffee, building on a legacy defined by perseverance and an unwavering commitment to quality. To celebrate this milestone, we are bringing back La Tortuga, a name first introduced in 2004 for coffee from Marysabel’s father, Don Fabio, as a nod to the classic story of the tortoise and the hare. At the time, Honduras was still emerging on the specialty coffee stage, steadily building recognition alongside its Central American neighbors.

Today, Honduras is firmly established among the world’s great coffee origins, and La Tortuga carries new meaning. Marysabel and Moises continue to build on the foundation established by generations before them, advancing the family’s work through careful cultivation and meticulous processing. This washed Catuaí lot reflects decades of dedication and the steady pursuit of exceptional coffee.

How To Brew

We recommend starting with a 1:18 coffee-to-water ratio, which provides an excellent total extraction level and maximizes flavor pulled out of the ground coffee. For our single origin coffees we recommend a pour over method either on a Chemex, V60 or Kalita Wave on a 5 or 6 grind setting if you are ordering from Intelligentsiacoffee.com.
