The Variety

Seasonal Espresso

Honey Badger joins Sugar Glider (spring), Fruit Bat (summer), and Sapsucker (fall) as part of the sugar-seeking foursome that makes up our seasonal espresso lineup. Each season's blend is named after a creature known for its relentless search for sweetness, which is closely aligned with our approach to coffee generally and to developing these blends specifically.

Selecting for Sweetness

When evaluating coffee, it takes intention to step back from the big picture of "tastes good" and assess the individual parts that make up the whole, such as acidity, sweetness, mouthfeel, and aftertaste. For our seasonal espresso blend lineup, the focus of that assessment is narrowed and the mission is clear: select for sweetness. With that filter on, these coffees rose to the occasion.

East Africa + Colombia

This year's winter blend brings together four distinct coffees from around the coffee world, highlighting community-grown lots and the collective efforts of smallholder coffee farmers. With equal parts Ethiopia Alaka Natural, Rwanda Murundo, and Kenya Kiangoi, this blend prominently features the diversity and complexity of East African coffees. It is rounded out with a regional blend from Colombia's famed Nariño region that was sourced from our partners at Banexport.
