Seasonal Espresso

Fruit Bat joins Sugar Glider (spring), Sapsucker (fall), and Honey Badger (winter) as part of the sugar-seeking foursome we selected to represent our seasonal espresso blend lineup because their relentless search for sweetness is so closely aligned with our approach to coffee generally, and to developing these blends specifically.

Three Components

This year's blend brings together three distinct coffees from around the coffee world, highlighting community-grown lots and the collective efforts of smallholder coffee farmers in Burundi, Honduras, and Peru who work with our trusted partners at JNP Coffee, Bon Cafe, and Origin Coffee Lab to bring their coffee to market. 

Selecting for Sweetness

When evaluating coffee, it takes intention to step back from the big picture of "tastes good" to unpack what exactly it is we're tasting and assess the parts that make up the whole, such as acidity, sweetness, mouthfeel, and aftertaste. For Fruit Bat, however, the focus was narrowed and the mission was clear: select for sweetness. And with that filter on, these coffees rose to the occasion. When combined, the result is a balanced, yet undeniably sweet espresso bursting with flavors of ripe summer fruit, complemented by a pinch of baking spice to round off the finish.
