Our second release of the new Rwanda harvest comes from our partners at Kivubelt Coffee in the Nyamasheke District of western Rwanda. Grown by a group of smallholder farmers collectively known as The People’s Farm, this lot was cultivated on the rolling hillsides overlooking Lake Kivu.

Cherries from Red Bourbon trees were hand-picked and delivered to Kivubelt’s Murundo washing station, where they were carefully processed and separated into smaller lots based on quality and sensory characteristics. Selected from thousands of samples as a finalist in the 2025 Best of Rwanda competition, the cup is layered with clove aromatics, soft mandarin orange acidity, and deep black currant sweetness.

How To Brew

We recommend starting with a 1:18 coffee-to-water ratio, which provides an excellent total extraction level and maximizes flavor pulled out of the ground coffee. For our single origin coffees we recommend a pour over method either on a Chemex, V60 or Kalita Wave on a 5 or 6 grind setting if you are ordering from Intelligentsiacoffee.com.
