Origin Story
Peña Blanca is a small farm tucked into a northern pocket of the acclaimed coffee-growing region of Nariño. Before becoming a coffee farmer, Enuar Rodrigo Ramos raised livestock. He then used his proceeds to build a home for his family and acquire a 2-hectare plot of land dedicated to coffee. This lot is harvested from the Colombia Variety trees that Don Enuar cultivates on his farm.
The Colombia Variety is the result of a laboratory cross between Caturra and Timor Hybrid, yielding a plant that is resistant to coffee leaf rust, produces high cup quality, and can be densely planted to allow for more efficient and productive harvests. While this variety can be found on farms throughout Colombia, the care that Don Enuar and his family take in harvesting only ripe cherries and drying the coffee on covered, raised beds yields exceptional results.
