In many ways, this coffee needs no introduction. But if you're new here—or just never tire of the backstory—Finca Takesi’s Geisha lots have appeared on our menu every year since 2012. This year’s harvest faced unique challenges, and production was extremely limited as a result, which means this lot will be gone in a flash. The stewards of Finca Takesi, the Iturralde family, claim it’s the highest coffee farm in the world, and we’re not arguing. Perched precariously in a narrow fold of the Bolivian Andes, the farm clings to a steep hillside above a deep ravine carved over centuries by the rushing Takesi River. Towering above it all is the snow-capped Mururata Mountain. Takesi stretches from the riverbed up past 3,100 meters, with coffee planted across 35 hectares between 1,800 and 2,500 meters—so high, conventional wisdom says coffee shouldn’t grow there at all. That extreme elevation seems to intensify the flavor of everything grown at Takesi, but none more so than its Geisha. We’re privileged to have access to a coffee this rare and distinct—and honored to share it with you. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
